education
We seek any opportunity to integrate our research topics and activities to the classroom, at UTEP as well as at schools of the El Paso area. In particular, the following are usual activities of our research group:
- Presentation at TNTc in 2015 (two sessions)
- Presentation for doctoral students of LSAMP at UTEP
- Presentation at TNTc in 2014 (two sessions)
- Webinar for the Ysleta school district in 2014
- Presenting projects and giving demonstrations for schools of the El Paso area
- Proposing projects and developing a constraint module for the AI class at UTEP
- Advising REU scholars who are part of UTEP’s Summer REU site whose PI is Dr. Olac Fuentes
- Summer 2011: two students — one working on generating minimal pair-wise covering test suites; one working on enhancing CR2G’s constraint solver with optimization
- Summer 2010: one student working on optimization techniques for the extraction of fuzzy measures — co-advised with my PhD student Xiaojing Wang
- Summer 2009: one student working on multi-objective optimization — co-advised with Dr. Heidi Taboada (Department of Industrial Engineering, UTEP)
- Coordinating a Computer Science Constraint-Related project for the MSEIP EPCC program
- coordinator: Martine Ceberio
- instructors for Summer 2010: Luis Gutierrez, Luis Martinez / instructors for Summer 2011: Luis Gutierrez, Christian Del Hoyo
- see our post on the MSEIP EPCC activity
- see the facebook page of the project
- Advising interns from high schools of El Paso through the Nexus program at UTEP
- Summer 2014: about 8 interns
- Summer 2013: 2 interns
- Summer 2012: 2 interns
- Summer 2011: 2 interns from Da Vinci School, 1 from Loretto Academy working on developing a genetic-oriented android app and a 3D-four-in-a-row game
- Summer 2010: 2 interns from Harmony Science Academy working on constraint-related projects
- one project on rubik’s cube (robotics and software)
- one project on bio-med engineering (partly in collaboration with Dr. Nazeran, UTEP ECE department)
